The store while small is a mix of French and Texas country the best of both worlds in my mind. Black Rooster Bakery is dedicated to making their products the old-fashioned way. Both the breads and pastries are baked fresh every day from scratch and free-range animal products without a preservative. I’m pleased to say that our sandwiches, (French ham with Gruyere cheese and Brie with vinaigrette tomatoes) complete with - bows were happy reminders of Secco, the bakery my classmates and I often visit for lunch on Rue Jean Nicot. Last week, my dad and I visited the Black Rooster Bakery, here in Fort Worth, to encounter a bit of that missed taste. If you’ve ever been to Paris, you can hardly blame me you too, I’m willing to bet have succumbed to the hypnotic wafts with which each bakery (from which you are never more than a stone’s throw from) woos you. I must admit that bread is one of the daily pleasures I miss while home in Texas. And while I’m being clear as crystal, I might as welladmit that I have on more than one occasion consumed an entire baguette in a single evening. If I had to honestly describe my French food groups, it would go a little something like this: bread, Nutella, cheese, coffee, pasta, and bread.
